2022 Unimutual Conference

Disruption – The Creator of Opportunities

We’re excited to announce that Unimutual’s Annual Conference 2022 will be held at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the 16th, 17th and 18th of March.

Conference participants can expect three days packed with industry-leading knowledge, thought-provoking presentations and insightful conversations.

The conference program also includes our annual Champagne Cocktail Party and delegates who are attending in person are invited to join us for a Harbour Cruise and dinner at Epicure Taronga Zoo.

The conference will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.

It is important to note there is NO LIMIT on how many people can attend from your organisation.

Registration emails will be sent on the 22nd November, so please look in your “junk” folder if you don’t see in your inbox.  Or contact Kerry French here if you require another invitation email sent.

The theme of the conference is Disruption. We will deep dive into how to lead through disruption, how to leverage innovation to overcome uncertainty and crisis, and how to take advantage when opportunities arise.

Disruption is described by the Cambridge dictionary as “the action of preventing something, especially a system, process, or event, from continuing as usual or as expected.” The more business focussed definition is “the action of completely changing the traditional way that an industry or market operates by using new methods or technology”.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been the epitome of a disruptor – preventing us from continuing as usual and changing almost every aspect of our lives and work. And while we didn’t welcome its arrival, it has fast-tracked evolution.

Forcing us to think differently, the pandemic has opened up new opportunities in all directions. The individuals, businesses and organisations who have already adapted are flourishing, and those who haven’t yet will either need to get started or will find themselves lagging behind.

Program highlights

One of Australia’s most respected media personalities and radio hosts, James O’Loughlin will be joining us as conference MC. James is best known for hosting The New Inventors on ABC TV, and he is also the author of seven books including ‘Innovation is a State of Mind – Simple Strategies to be more Innovative in what you do’.

Having a wealth of experience in change and innovation, he will take us through a program focusing on how we can use disruption to build a better future – for the higher education sector and for society as a whole.

Apart from regular sessions such as the Broker Panel and Member Forum, we have a number of fascinating sessions to look forward to.

To name a few, Harry Rosenthal will be presenting on the lessons he has learnt in Pandemic Crisis Planning. Professor Alex Zelinsky, Vice-Chancellor, University of Newcastle will be delivering the Keynote address on the Thursday. We will also be joined by Sarah Morse, Founder and Director of social impact organisation Unchained. Sarah will be giving an inspiring talk on the Modern Slavery Act, the “why” behind it, and the impact COVID-19 is having on modern slavery and international students.

We look forward to seeing you there!
