Unimutual is pleased to announce that Tobias Pfau has joined the Unimutual team in March 2021 as Manager Underwriting and Reinsurance.

Tobias brings 20 years of reinsurance experience to the organisation. He will work with our reinsurance brokers and reinsurers to undertake catastrophe modelling and to structure the scope of protection required by the Membership. Tobias will also assist with reinsurance negotiations and placement within Australia and in overseas markets.

Acting CEO Terry Ibbotson said “We are pleased to welcome Tobias Pfau to the Unimutual team. His extensive experience in reinsurance and catastrophe underwriting will help us ensure the protection we provide to Members is both market leading and competitively priced. This role is critical to Unimutual as it designs the protections that we provide to the Membership, while obtaining the reinsurance protection necessary for the Mutual to operate. Tobias is a great addition to the team and his particular skill set has already proven a valuable asset in driving our Roadmap projects forward and refining our services.”

Prior to Unimutual, Tobias has held senior underwriting positions for a global reinsurer and was underwriting manager for Asia Pacific. During his career he has focussed on property and property catastrophe underwriting in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region. He holds a Master’s degree in business and economics, is a Certified Cat Risk Analyst (RMS) and a member of the AICD.
