Issue #1

February 2026

Welcome to the first Member Matters for 2026.

We hope the year has started well for you and your teams. As always, our aim is to keep things simple, useful and Member focused. This edition shares a mix of updates, reminders, and a few things we’re genuinely excited about as we head into the year together.

A warm welcome to Edith Cowan University Guild

We’re pleased to welcome Edith Cowan University Guild as the newest Member of Unimutual, joining on 31 December 2025.

We’re looking forward to getting to know the Guild and supporting them as part of our community.

Unimutual Conference 2026

Our Annual Conference is just around the corner, from Wednesday 25 March to Friday 27 March at the Pullman Melbourne, Albert Park.

This year’s theme, ‘Collaboration, Cooperation, Connection,’ sums up exactly what we’re striving for – bringing our Member community together, sharing insights, and building stronger relationships across the sector.

The conference is a chance to:

  • reconnect with colleagues and peers.
  • hear from sector leaders.
  • get a first look at some important initiatives we’re rolling out in 2026.

Registrations close on Wednesday 25 February, and accommodation is filling quickly – so if you’re planning to join us, now’s a good time to register. If you have any questions or require assistance in registering, please contact [email protected].

New Building Notification

A friendly reminder about the New Building Notification process for any new buildings or significant asset purchases.

Please make sure the relevant people within your organisation know the process and timeframes. The Notification Form has been updated in the Member portal, so please use the latest version here under the dropdown menu ‘Property’.

New Construction Review Service

Our Risk Management team also offers a New Construction Review service – available to all Members at no additional cost.

A review early in the project can make a real difference. From futureproof design to material choices, we can help ensure new assets are as resilient as possible and smoothly incorporated into the Unimutual property portfolio.

If you’d like to arrange a review or ask a question, please get in touch with Simon Iliffe at [email protected].

Updated Cyber Incident Response Fact Sheet

We all know how disruptive a cyber incident can be, especially when things unfold quickly and decisions need to be made under pressure. To make this easier, we’ve completely refreshed our Cyber Incident Response Fact Sheet.

The updated version now includes:

  • a simple visual flow chart that steps through what to do in the wake of a cyber incident.
  • clearer guidance on who to contact and when.
  • practical tips to help you act quickly and confidently.
  • a layout that makes it easy to use during an actual incident, not just read in advance.

The aim is to give you something you can rely on in the moment – a straightforward guide that supports faster decision‑making and helps limit the impact of an incident.

You can access the updated fact sheet in the Member portal, here under the dropdown menu ‘Cyber’.

Updates to the Active Assailant Fact Sheet

We’ve also updated our Active Assailant Fact Sheet so it aligns with the current protection wording and reflects the way Members are preparing for and responding to, serious on‑campus incidents.

The revised document includes:

  • a clear summary of the protection available.
  • guidance on what’s covered and what isn’t, to avoid uncertainty.
  • updated terminology and examples to match the current policy wording.
  • practical insights to support your emergency planning and response procedures.

We know this can be a confronting topic, but having clarity and knowing what support is available, is an important part of preparedness and resilience across your organisation.

You can access the updated fact sheet via the Member portal here under the ‘Active Assailant’ dropdown menu.

AGM Notice – 18 March 2026

A reminder that the Unimutual Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 18 March 2026.

Formal notice and pre-reading papers will be sent to Member representatives shortly.

Let’s Keep the Conversation Going

As always, we’re keen to hear your thoughts. If there’s anything we can do to make Member Matters more useful for you, please let us know.

Warm regards,

Geoff Henderson
Chief Executive Officer
