As we approach the end of another remarkable year, I’m delighted to share some exciting updates and important reminders in this December edition of Member Matters. So, grab your favourite festive beverage and settle in for a brief update on our year in review!
We’re thrilled to report that Unimutual has wrapped up the 2022/23 financial year on a high note! Thanks to the collaborative efforts of our fantastic Members, the Unimutual community has achieved some significant milestones.
We modernised our protection offering, with new Cyber and Management Liability wordings, and rolled out a new Fine Art, Rare Books, and Collectables cover to deliver on Member feedback.
We also created an Environmental, Sustainability, and Governance Plan, along with rolling out our 5-year Strategic Plan to ensure we focus on the right things at the right time.
Strong partnerships were also developed with like-purposed organisations, including Civic Risk, UMAL and Curie. We look forward to continuing this collaboration into 2024.
Three new Members joined us this year, Weld Australia, Kings College (Qld) and St Catherine’s College (WA). Curtin Student Guild will also be joining us from 31 December 2023.
Among all the achievements of 2023, I can’t help but reflect on the results of this year’s Membership renewal. Thanks for your support in providing early and accurate data to allow us to deliver a seamless renewal process so that we can continue to meet the changing needs of the market and create value for our Members
Our holiday shutdown checklist will help you prepare before closing your campuses this year. These are designed to help you tick off the major risks you are likely to confront during the holiday period – everything from electricity disruption, to severe (and unforeseeable) weather events, as well as building and campus maintenance. Registrations are now open for our much-anticipated Unimutual Conference in Hobart from 13 to 15 March 2024.
As always, the conference provides a unique annual opportunity for collaboration. We’re bringing together industry experts, thought leaders, and, of course, our amazing Members for three days of knowledge-sharing, networking, and a touch of Tasmanian charm. It’s an event you won’t want to miss!
Registration is by invitation only and these have been sent via email.
They say laughter is the best medicine, and we couldn’t agree more. In the midst of all the ‘risk talk’, let’s not forget to inject a bit of humour into our daily lives. After all, facing challenges with a smile is the Unimutual way!
As we wrap up this bulletin, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your support throughout the year. Together, we’ve fortified the Unimutual community, and I’m confident that the coming year holds even more opportunities for growth, collaboration, and, of course, a few laughs along the way.
Wishing you all a joyful holiday season and a fantastic start to 2024!
Warm regards,
Geoff Henderson
