As we approach the completion of the 2026/27 renewal process, several important initiatives and updates are shaping the months ahead.

A new Member communication
One of the most significant is In Case You Missed It, a new monthly communication designed to help Members stay informed about emerging insurance and risk management issues affecting the higher education and research sectors. It complements our existing communications, with CEO Connect continuing to provide strategic insights every two months and Member Matters focusing on operational updates and Member services. Together, these publications provide a regular flow of information designed to help strengthen institutional resilience and support informed decision-making for our Members.

Unimutual Protection Wordings
We have also completed our annual review of the Unimutual Protection Wordings. This process ensures our protection programme remains aligned with market developments and continues to provide broad and relevant coverage for Members. You should have received an email outlining the key enhancements and wording improvements for 2026/27. If you have any questions about these changes, please contact the team at [email protected].

Renewal presentation meetings
Thank you to all Members who completed and submitted their Data Collection information as part of this year’s renewal process. We are currently finalising renewal terms and anticipate making renewal quotations available through ReSure on Friday, 2 October 2026. Members will receive an email notification once quotations are available for download. Renewal presentation meetings will commence from Tuesday, 6 October 2026, with invitations to be issued shortly.

2027 Annual Conference
Looking further ahead, we are pleased to confirm that the 2027 Unimutual Annual Conference will be held from 17 to 19 March 2027 at the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra.

The conference is one of the most valuable opportunities for professionals across the higher education and research sector to come together, connect and learn from each other. Representatives from finance, risk management, audit, insurance, property and facilities, legal services and governance will once again be joined by leading brokers, insurers and specialist service providers supporting the sector.

With more than 140 delegates attending annually, the conference provides a unique opportunity for networking, knowledge sharing and professional collaboration. More importantly, it demonstrates one of the key strengths of mutuality: the ability for every Member to benefit from the collective experience, expertise and insights of the wider community.
