Dear Member,
Welcome back to 2025.
Leading a Member-based organisation is a privilege that fosters a unique and collaborative relationship, distinct from a typical customer-supplier interaction.
At Unimutual, we highly value the insights and contributions of our Members, whether through serving as a Member Director, joining a Committee, or actively engaging with our team. Your involvement strengthens the Mutual and helps shape its future.
As part of our commitment to evolving and enhancing Member engagement, Unimutual’s Technical Committee will be renamed the Member Reference Group as of our next meeting.
This group plays a crucial role in providing direct access to Unimutual’s management team, offering feedback for continuous improvement, and contributing to strategic initiatives.
The new name demonstrates that Members do not need a technical insurance background to participate. More than ever, we want Members to be at the heart of our strategic planning. In the coming weeks, we will be expanding this group to ensure even broader representation and stronger collaboration.
In 2023, we collectively developed a robust five-year strategy to guide Unimutual through to 2028.
A key focus area is our Risk Services Strategy, shaped by Member feedback. Members have highlighted the need for greater support in risk prevention and protection, particularly in two areas:
To support these priorities, we are recruiting a dedicated team member who will work closely with Members to assess risks and implement preventive measures. This will ultimately help to control protection costs over the long term.
We are excited to announce a complete refresh of the Unimutual website to improve user experience and accessibility.
The new platform will feature intuitive navigation, enriched content, and enhanced functionality, ensuring seamless access to resources and services. Our goal is to create a digital space that better supports our Members and facilitates more dynamic engagement.
Look out for an email shortly, with more details including new login details for the Member and Broker portal.
I am looking forward to welcoming all those who have registered for our Annual Conference in a few weeks’ time at the Pullman Hotel in Adelaide.
With more than 125 people registered to attend, the conference will bring together professionals from universities and allied organisations across finance, risk management, audit, insurance, property and facilities, legal services, and international broking firms.
Members will have the opportunity to participate in Member Development Sessions, ideal for those new to Unimutual or seeking deeper engagement and hear from a line-up of engaging speakers.
This year’s program includes:
For more details on the program and speaker lineup, please head to our website and log in to the Members Only section. I also encourage you to like and share our recent LinkedIn posts about the conference.
