We have recently received notification of two General & Product Liability claims involving damage to parked cars as a result of falling branches.

The first claim occurred in November 2008. The University was hosting a rally arranged by the Vintage Sports Car Club. A vintage Bentley had been parked in a designated car park. Unfortunately, a large branch fell from a tree adjacent to the car park, causing extensive damage to the car. The owner of the car was, naturally, distressed by this incident, and has lodged a claim with the University for the cost of repairs and for compensation for the loss of enjoyment from the use of the vehicle during the period of repair.
