September 27, 20172017 Unimutual Conference
October 11, 2017We’re pleased to announce that the 27th annual Unimutual Conference, held exclusively for Unimutual members and partner brokers, has been a huge success. The Conference was held at the Intercontinental Melbourne The Rialto from 6-8 September 2017, with 114 attendees from 50 organisations across Australia.
Highlights of the conference included presentations from researchers who gave delegates insights on emerging risk management issues such as the future of driverless cars, and the way in which we are tackling mosquito transmitted diseases. The Conference also provided the latest news on the reinsurance market, and how universities and working together to combat sexual assault and harrassment.
Delegates attended a Moot Court at the Monash University Law Chambers, and had the opportunity to participate in an interactive discussion with Professor The Hon, George Hampel AM QC, a former Supreme Court judge.
The Conference presented opportunities for collaboration and networking amongst all Unimutual members and brokers. On the Wednesday, skilled magicians provided excellent entertainment during dinner and on Thursday, delegates were captivated by the amazing array of sea life experienced during the conference dinner held in the Fish Bowl at the Melbourne aquarium.
The Unimutual Conference smartphone app was introduced this year, and was used by delegates to access information about the Conference and speakers, and play a fun game by completing activities and scoring points. The app provided a open forum for communication, and was actively used to raise questions for the speakers, and interact with each other digitally through the event feed which was filled with messages and photos.
We would like to thank our University and reinsurance presenters, as well as all delegates for making the 2017 Conference such an educational and enjoyable event. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
