Aluminium Composite Cladding – Emerging Risk Report: Issue 84
September 17, 2019Board Member Spotlight: Jane Fenton
September 19, 2019We are pleased to announce that the 29th annual Unimutual Conference, held exclusively for Unimutual Members, partner brokers and service providers, has been a huge success. This year’s conference theme was “The Changing Landscape – Risks and Opportunities” which was explored by the variety of speakers and their informative as well as entertaining presentations. Overall it provided opportunity for delegates to discuss not only key issues affecting the sector including cyber, technological changes, reputational risk, but also to share ideas about opportunities for the sector.
This year the conference was held at Elements of Byron, Byron Bay NSW, with a record-high attendance of over 120 delegates with 47 of the Members represented. Whether this was your first conference, or you are a regular attendee, we trust you enjoyed the great location and beautiful weather, gained relevant and thought-provoking insights to take back to your institutions, and took full advantage to meet many of your peers.
The Member Forum was well attended, and thanks to Meiring Gouws (Insurance Manager, Strategic & Commercial Finance at Deakin University) for chairing the session as well as the online versions earlier this year. The intention of the Forum is to facilitate collaborations between member institutions and individuals, to openly discuss issues and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement, as well as to promote the value of Mutuals: cooperation and collaboration. Next year the Online Member Forums will be chaired by Michelle Griffiths (Director Risk & Assurance, Curtin University), and we encourage all members to join in.
The survey has been sent to all delegates and we thank everyone who have already provided their responses. There have been many positive comments on the relevant and interesting topics and the great opportunity to network with others in the insurance and risk space. The survey is still open until the 28th September so please take 5 minutes to provide your feedback. As next year is our 30th anniversary, we have requested your suggestions for the location. So make sure you complete the survey so you can vote for your preferred location!
We would like to thank all our presenters, as well as delegates for making the 2019 Conference such an educational and enjoyable event. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
