Unimutual’s Conference 2024 was held Wednesday to Friday the 13th – 15th of March at Hotel Grand Chancellor, Hobart, Tasmania. This year’s theme ‘Staying ahead of the curve together’, prepared our Members and stakeholders for the next phase of innovation and progress in our industry.
The first round of sessions on Wednesday 13 March was dedicated towards Member education, allowing delegates to gain a deeper understanding of Unimutual and its Protections. These sessions also provided an opportunity to learn from our experienced Risk Management team. Sessions were designed for those new to Unimutual, or anyone wanting an opportunity to engage and gain knowledge from the expert Unimutual team.
We heard from an amazing line-up of speakers including Professor Rufus Black, Vice Chancellor, University of Tasmania who presented our keynote address. Change strategist and author Michael McQueen also delivered an engaging session exploring the key trends that will shape tomorrow and how we can gear up for them today.
Delegates also had the opportunity to discover the impact that climate change will have on our Members, in a discussion led by Risk Frontiers – a Sydney-based research institute. A panel of experts also discussed the changes in risk protection, while delegates also learnt about the future for pandemic cover and digital transformation in the higher education sector.
Dr Shasta Henry of Future Crunch – a passionate scientist and science communicator – delivered a passionate presentation on how to be a “Full Stack Human”. Dr Henry shared insights on how to excel in your primary area of expertise and develop competencies in diverse areas, fostering a broader understanding and capability to navigate various challenges in life. Dr Henry explained how maintaining a broad skillset and mindset allows us to thrive in multiple domains and adapt to different situations effectively.
