Member Matters Issue #4, September 2024

Welcome to the latest edition of Member Matters with Unimutual.

This month, we are excited to share some fantastic news with our Members

Partnership with the Risk Management Institute of Australasia

As a Member-owned and led organisation, we are continuously seeking ways to leverage our scale and structure to enhance the value we provide.

In addition to the comprehensive risk services Unimutual already offers, I am pleased to announce we have partnered with the Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) to extend the risk management support available to all Members at no extra cost.

Through this partnership, our Members will gain access to the RMIA Organisational Membership package, which includes a wide range of benefits such as training, events, conferences and RMIA Risk Certification.

RMIA offers high-quality risk training through face-to-face and online sessions, covering everything from risk fundamentals to working with boards. RMIA Risk Certification offers a unique opportunity for Members to benchmark their skills and be recognised as leading risk professionals.

Members will also have access to valuable resources, including a library of recorded webinars, content from the RMIA National Conference, whitepapers, and soon, the RMIA online community app.

We are excited to offer these additional resources to our Members. More details on how to access these resources will be available from the week commencing Monday 23 September.

Member renewal

We remain committed to negotiating the best possible terms for our Members. Discussions with our reinsurance partners are well advanced, and we are on track for the reinsurance renewal on Tuesday 1 October. We anticipate being able to share terms with our Members and Brokers from Tuesday 8 October.

In July we hosted our annual Renewal Update Webinar, offering insights into the 2024 renewal process and potential pricing. This presentation featured a comprehensive market overview from Susie Amos, Principal at Finity Consulting, along with detailed explanations of the renewal process from Unimutual’s Tobias Pfau and Salinda Saat.

If you were unable to attend the session, you can watch the recording and access the presentation slides here.

2025 Unimutual Conference

Last month we shared a ‘save the date’ for our Annual Unimutual Conference. We are pleased to confirm our 2025 conference will be held from Wednesday 19 – Friday 21 March 2025 at the Pullman Hotel in Adelaide.

This year’s theme is ‘Leading through challenging times’, and we already have an impressive speaker line-up secured. The event will also be a great opportunity to network with fellow Members and Brokers, and for us to introduce several new initiatives we will implement in 2025. Look out for an email invitation coming soon, including more details on the program.

2024 Unimutual Excellence Awards

Following a successful program in 2023, nominations are now open for the 2024 Unimutual Excellence Awards, providing Members, Brokers and service providers with the chance to submit nominations and be recognised for excellence. The nomination process is easy – you can nominate yourself or a colleague, team or organisation. The winners will be announced at the Unimutual Annual Conference in March 2025.

In case you missed it

Pandemic Protection Webinar

The Pandemic Protection Webinar was held on Tuesday 20 August and was presented by Alexander Liu and Dr Gunther Kraut from Munich Re. The session provided information on the new pandemic protection being offered by Unimutual to all Members as of renewal in October this year. If you were unable to attend the session, you can watch the recording and access the presentation slides here.

Warm regards,

Geoff Henderson
Chief Executive Officer
